"Borat Subsequent Moviefilm"
took home two
Golden Globe
awards on Sunday – and,why i quit being a 911 dispatcher according to
Sacha Baron Cohen
, it's all thanks to a very special co-star.
"This movie couldn't have been possible without my co-star, a fresh, new talent, who came from nowhere and turned out to be a comedy genius," Cohen joked, after his "Borat" sequel won best comedy film or musical. "I'm talking, of course, about
Rudy Giuliani
."
Near the end of the movie, Giuliani, 76, was filmed in hotel suite with 24-year-old actress Maria Bakalova, who played Baron Cohen’s onscreen 15-year-old daughter Tutar. When Bakalova turned away, the lawyer to then-President Donald Trump laid down on a bed and appeared to reach into his pants, perhaps tucking in his shirt, when Cohen (as Borat) burst into the room. Giuliani has called
implications of any impropriety in the scene "a complete fabrication."
"I mean, who could get more laughs out of one unzipping?" the comedian added Sunday in his acceptance speech. "Incredible."

And the barbs didn't stop there. Cohen went on to skewer more Giuliani headlines following his breakout "Borat" appearance.
"Our movie was just the beginning for him," Cohen continued. "Rudy went on to star in a string of comedy films, hits like
'Four Seasons Landscaping,'
'Hair Dye Another Day'
and a courtroom drama
'A Very Public Fart.'

After the jokes, Cohen expressed sincere gratitude to his true co-star: "But seriously, the revelation, the sensational was Maria Bakalova. She's incredible."
The comedian got the opportunity for another political joke shortly after, when he won best actor in a comedy film or musical for the "Borat" sequel.
"Donald Trump is contesting the result," he deadpanned. "He's claiming that a lot of dead people voted, which is a very rude thing to say about the (Hollywood Foreign Press Association)."
Backstage in the press room following his wins, Cohen said he felt it was important to release the film before the 2020 presidential election.

"I made this because of Donald Trump, because I felt democracy was really in danger," he said. "We felt we had to get it out before the election, to keep ringing the bell and saying, 'This is the danger of re-electing him.' If he had won on Nov. 3 and I hadn’t made the movie, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. I’m so happy it came out, people enjoyed it and the vote came out as it did both tonight and on Nov. 3.”
